CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE: CORSHAM Cricket Club will be joined by Corsham Centre, North Star A and Westbury Rangers A in the draw for the semi-finals.

Corsham Centre produced a majestic display at Bar OC (see report, right) as they made it 50 successive league and cup wins on the trot.

Their game with second division Christian Malford was all but over in the first half hour as the Centre built up a 4-0 lead before going on to to win 8-0. Simon Gray and James Lye both hit doubles while Craig Gingell, Liam Ralph, Richard Boore and Jon Bartlett added a goal apiece as the Centre kept up their relentless form.

First Division North Star A, last term's beaten finalists, look set for another cup final appearance after they produced the shock of the quarter finals, ending the hopes of top flight side Biddestone Social.

The Star needed extra time and penalties but on this showing people shouldn't bet against them reaching April's final.

Tommy Ludford's long range effort for the Star in the fourth minute was cancelled out by Kevin Banks' 20 yarder two minutes later.

With no further goals in normal time, Biddestone took the lead when James Tindell turned home Matt Pratley's cross in the 99th minute. Ludford equalised five minutes later to take the tie to a penalty shootout.

Successful kicks from Pete Thornton, Ronnie Kallmeier, Mark Forester and Simon Vowden saw the Star to a 4-2 win after Mark Jennings and Matt Pratley had missed for Biddestone.

The all Premier Division clash between Westbury Rangers A and West Lavington (Sunday) saw Rangers defeat the current leaders 2-1. Marc Lanfear's first half double set Rangers on their way and despite Simon Drewitt pulling one back they were always second best.

SHERSTON Town's inability to raise a side for their clash with Box Rovers saw both teams miss out on the opportunity to close the gap on the Premier Division leaders West Lavington.

Dog & Fox Ashley moved up into third spot and above Sherston thanks to their 2-1 home victory over Trowbridge Harriers.

Hullavington threw away a two-goal lead as they allowed Maud Heath Sports to hit back and claim a battling 2-2 draw.

Phil Garland and a Craig Samuels penalty put Hullavington in charge only for Robbie Fry and Stuart Wilson to hit back for the draw.

All Cannings' game with Bradford News ended in farce when the referee walked off with eight minutes remaining and the scores locked at 3-3.

Nathan Moffett and Steve Bush scored for Cannings before John Burt headed Bradford back into the game. Nick Oram's curling shot from 20 yards restored Cannings' two-goal cushion, and Oram had the chance to make it 4-1 but saw his penalty save by Bradford's keeper Dave Muffett.

Lee Williamson sliced a shot into the net to cut the deficit which was erased by Burt's second ten minutes from time before the referee walked off.

CHIPPENHAM Police continued their purple patch with a 3-1 victory against Horse and Groom, despite going a goal down when Paul Aland headed in from a Paul Bendell corner after 20 minutes.

The Police thought they at least deserved to be level before the break as Mark Simpson was denied his first goal for over two years when his shot was cleared off the line.

In the second half the Police took the game to their opponents and after a goalmouth scramble Adam Davey forced home the equaliser for his first ever Police goal.

The Police piled forward and on 60 minutes Jason Roberts out paced the Horse's defence and his fierce shot was spilled by keeper Alex Knight only for Tim Culling to walk the ball into an empty net.

With five minutes remaining a mistake by Andy Morley in the Police defence almost cost them the points but the Horse strikers failed to hit the target when it counted.

The last attack of the game brought the best move of the match when Roberts' vision put Simpson in space and he crossed for Tony Kerwick to prod the ball home for a 3-1 triumph.

Leaders Colerne opened up a three-point lead on the chasing clubs following their 3-0 win over Semington Rovers.

Jamie Bowler, Jake Jefferies and Jason Smith scored the goals that means Colerne have lost just one of their 11 league games this term.

Chippenham Sports & Social Club moved out of the bottom two for the first time this season to be replaced by Calne Sunday who fell into the drop zone after suffering a 3-0 loss at the hands of a Sports side who kept their first clean sheet of the season.

Adie White, Jack Ryan and Wayne Burry shared the Sports goals.

Wingfield left it late before claiming a point from their 1-1 draw with fellow villagers North Bradley.

Goalless at the break, Bradley took the lead via a Tim Richards penalty and with just 25 seconds left Alan House tied the game with a thunderbolt from 25 yards.

SOUTHWICK Sports finally defeated AC Soho at the third time af asking after turning in a five star display.

Gary Rice stole in at the back post to tap home Liam Brown's downward header for Southwick's 18th minute opener.

Soho's Stuart White thought that he had levelled on the half hour mark but his fantastic strike from 16 yards was ruled out for an earlier foul. With the first half drawing to a close Southwick's Tom Mann produced a clinical finish to an excellent move for a 3-0 interval lead.

Soho were reduced to ten men shortly after the restart when Tyrone Prades was sent off for a second bookable offence. Still they tried to find a way back into the game and were almost given a lifeline by White who could only watch as Southwick's keeper Kevin Shallis tipped his 30 yard screamer over the bar.

But 15 minutes from time Southwick's Jamie Moth put the game beyond Soho with the fourth, and in the 90th minute the smallest man on the pitch, Andy Colebrook, headed a fifth.

Southwick were later dealt a cruel blow to their promotion hopes following the deduction of two points for playing an ineligible player earlier in the season, while Soho's result of their abandoned game with Steeple Ashton will stand, giving them the 5-1 victory.

Spencer Sports' 5-0 win over bottom of the table Blue Circle (Sunday) saw them open up a three point lead over Potterne who were left kicking their heals after Sutton Benger's late postponement of their planned game at Northbrook.

Spencer were indebted to keeper Nick Evans who produced two outstanding saves to deny Circle an opener before Dan King drove home a 25 yard free kick to give Spencer the lead. King made it 2-0 before the break and shortly afterwards he completed his hat-trick. Ben Grinham made it 4-0 and Ralph Plummer added number five from the penalty spot.

Steeple Ashton's back three of Matt Winsor, Brin Holt and John Laye-Sion were outstanding throughout as Ashton defeated King Alfred 2-1.

Lee Hayward and Dave Bradbeer (penalty) netted for Ashton with Paul Borman replying for the Alfred. It was a bad seven day's for Alfred who were deducted two points for playing an ineligible player against Corsham Park Rangers back in November.

DIVISION THREE

THE top game in division three between leaders Kings Arms (Trowbridge) and second placed Sir Audley's Arms was lost to a waterlogged Stanley Park pitch.

The postponement allowed both Pig and Whistle United and FC Bradford to close the gap at the top.

Pig & Whistle moved level on points at the summit following their 5-0 win over Westbury Rangers B. It was a red letter day for Mark Bridger who marked his 250th appearance with a magnificent strike from 18 yards, this was after Gareth Evans (2), Leigh Stevenson and Paul McCarty had put United in charge.

FC Bradford trounced Somerford FC 10-0 with Jason Harford leading the rampage with four, Mike Embleton and Matthew Long added two apiece and singles from Wayne Duggan and Paul Tunnel completed the rout.

Virgin Mobile were also among the goals as they returned from Calne with two points and eight goals in the bag, coasting to an 8-1 win over North Star B, who have leaked 22 in two games.

Ian Standing and Sami Bakali both hit trebles for Virgin with Dan Light and Justise Ofosu-Apeasah adding the others. Simon Clifford netted the Star's consolation.

Trowbridge Town Supporters Club's opponents Bradstone Rovers were unable to raise a side for their trip from Calne to Bratton.

LEADERS AFC Calne have had a disastrous start to the second half of the season, while opponents Cooper Avon have seen their fortunes reversed.

Having recorded their first win of the season last week, Cooper followed that up with a creditable draw against the pacesetters whose own hopes of promotion have been dented after the 2-2 stalemate.

Simon Dance and Aaron Clegg put Calne two-up, Shane Thornton reduced the gap before the experienced Lee Randell grabbed Copper's equaliser with seconds remaining.

Rowde Dynamos made a slow start in their match against KSM who took the lead after only five minutes when Dom Riccio fired them in front. Despite the early setback Rowde hit back to claim a 4-1 success.

Richard Hayter slid in from six yards to convert Jamie Mullen's cross in the 16th minute.

Hayter, an own goal and Martin Robinson finished things off four minutes from time with an angled strike from 18 yards.

Rowde were denied more glory by KSM's keeper Paul Kidley, who produced a string fine saves.

Plough played some of their best football of the season as they defeated Fascia Graphics 3-1 through Chris Brady, Dave Thomas and Sam Dawson, while Steve Allison bagged Graphics' consolation.

Pack Horse Rangers reversed their game from a waterlogged Stanley Park and were rewarded for their efforts with a 2-1 win over hosts AFC Melksham.
