CORSHAM Town starlets Scott Lye and Jamie Lyons received the ultimate heartbreak after finding out they failed to get into the England Schoolboys squad at the last hurdle.
The midfielders were told the news on Tuesday after the final round of trials at England's Lilleshall complex last weekend.
Lyons, 18, had prepared himself for the news after playing below par at the England camp.
He said: "I'm gutted, I feel I could have been selected if I played to my best. I'm really disappointed but on the bright side the trials have been a fantastic experience."
The player was surprised his Corsham teammate, Lye also failed to get into the squad.
"Scott played very well, but I suppose the coaches know what they are looking for," he said.
