Ref. 75680-78BRAVE Abigail Taylor-Silk felt like a true star when a limousine planned for a break to EuroDisney arrived at her door.
Friends have arranged for the limo to pick her up when she travels to Paris for the trip soon.
The 14-year-old, who has Hodgkins Lymphoma, had hoped to swim with dolphins in Florida, but high costs of insurance put paid to plans.
Instead, kind-hearted villagers in Wroughton booked her a trip to Euro Disney in Paris.
Abigail had no idea the posh car will take her to the airport.
Organiser Caroline Stratford said she herself was close to tears. "It was well worth the effort," she said. "It was very emotional. Both Abigail and her mother Denise were in tears they were very taken aback." The teenager's plight has touched the hearts of many in the close-knit village. Not long after she was diagnosed with the disease in April 2002, a fundraising group, called Smile, was launched.
They set themselves a target of £6,000 to realise Abigail's dream. Pubs and local businesses also got involved in fundraising, helping to raise the £6,000 in a matter of months.
Previously, Mrs Taylor-Silk told the Adver that Abigail was disappointed the trip had to be cancelled.
Mrs Stratford added: "Abigail was over the moon. We all hope that the family have a wonderful time.
"The response from the local community to this fundraising campaign has been fantastic.
"Everyone has been so kind."
The trip comes as Abigail's condition deteriorates.
Before Christmas, doctors removed a portion of lung which showed signs of the disease. They found that the cancer had spread.
Now the family are being referred to Bristol for further treatment.
