TSUNAMI APPEAL: SAINSBURY'S in Oxford Road has raised more than £12,000 for the tsunami appeal.
The store collected £12,120.43 in plastic buckets around the store.
Mary Loadman, Sainsbury's administration manager, said: "We would like to say a big thank you to all our customers.
"We had about 36 buckets set out and we stopped collecting last Friday.
"We couldn't believe it when we added it all up. Our customers have been very generous and we're very grateful to them."
Another event for the appeal is being held at the Polish Club, in Whitbourne Avenue. A charity disco will be staged tomorrow.
Swindon band the Baker's Dozen will perform with guest singer Josie Kelly.
Tickets cost £5 and as well as musical entertainment their will be an auction with prizes including a week in a Cornwall cottage for six and a round of golf for four in South Cerney.
The evening begins at 8.30pm and tickets can be bought in advance by calling 336 924 or on the door.
