THREE prospective parliamentary candidates for Swindon will experience a flavour of Scotland at a special Robert Burns business breakfast next week.
Anne Snelgrove (Lab), Mike Evemy (Lib Dem) and Robert Buckland (Con) have been invited to the meeting at the Goddard Arms Hotel, in Old Town, on Tuesday, as guests of networking group BNI.
BNI director David Cuthbertson said he couldn't resist the idea of using the celebration of Scotland's most famous poet on January 25 as a reason to make some new contacts.
He said: "Boosting business is all about meeting people and making contacts.
"We're an international organisation that meets to refer business to each other.
"Last year we passed 1,300 referrals. It makes good business sense."
The anniversary marking the birth of Robert Burns is celebrated throughout the world on January 25 at gatherings knows as Burns' Suppers.
The 200-year-old tradition includes readings of Burns' poetry and the presentation of the haggis to the sound of the bagpipes.
