THE first weekly farmers' market in Swindon is proving to be a success.
Based at the McArthur Glen Designer outlet in Churchward, bosses have reported an increase in sales.
Market organiser Kardein Gerbrands believes holding it every week has helped increase its popularity.
"Farmers markets have taken a hold on the shopping habits of the nation and our challenge now is to give the public what they want regular, reliable access to local food," he said.
"People are more and more interested in where their food comes from and how it is produced.
"Buying local and direct from the producer gives them that confidence. The quality, freshness and taste that we find in local produce are what keeps the customers coming back."
The weekly Sunday market is held between 10am and 4pm.
