GAZETTE & HERALD: THE Beaufort Hunt Club presented member Brenda Hutchings with a cheque for £600 to pass onto Moorfields Eye Hospital in London where she was treated for a cancerous lump behind her eye.
Last Thursday at the meet at Tytherton Lucas, near Chippenham, the group handed over the money, which was raised from a collection at the Beaufort Hunt's annual carol service.
Mrs Hutchings, 59, of Castlefield, who discovered the tumour 30 years ago has lost most of the sight in one eye. She fears she could lose the eye completely or the cancer could spread to other parts of her body.
But her treatment at Moorfields is working and has reduced the tumour and stopped the growth for now.
"I'm very lucky," she said. "I have to keep thinking there are people worse off than me."
Talking about the cheque, she said: "It's absolutely wonderful. I feel very honoured that they have done it on my behalf."
