IN October Devizes came away with a two point win against Corsham, and this was just as bruising a contest.

For the opening 15 minutes of the first half the packs drove into each other ferociously but the Devizes backs had the edge and the half back combination of Matt Bevan and Harry Williams looked like they might break the resolute cover from the outset.

Devizes used their rush defence to secure the the first try from a five metre scrum. Several Devizes players bore down on the Corsham stand off, he was harried into an error which enabled Bevan to ground the ball first.

Just before half time from a penalty tap, the ball was fed to prop Orrie Brassington, who quite literally bounced the opposing tackler backwards several feet before scoring.

Five minutes after the break, after spurning three clear overlaps, the ball was initially pinched at a line-out by second row Dan Lock. After two rucks the ball was fed along the line with centre Dan Sainsbury providing the final pass which allowed his centre partner Tim Brain a clear run to the line.

Brain then scored his second after the rush defence again forced a poor clearance and Corsham did gain just reward for their efforts throughout with a consolation try close to full time.
