FOOTBALL fan and former deputy mayor Mike Pearce fears Westbury won't produce any more football stars if facilities in the town are not improved.
Cllr Pearce reeled off a list of Westbury footballers who have graced the game, including Bristol City and England forward John Atyeo.
Speaking on Monday night, he said: "They picked up all their basic skills in Westbury. Unless things change we will never see players like that again.
"If we don't do something soon we are going to be in absolute trouble. Unless we fight we are nowhere."
West Wiltshire District Council is currently reviewing sports facilities across the five towns and many believe Westbury is in the worst position of the lot.
A land swap deal that would see 25 acres of pitches created in Westbury on land owned by Persimmon Homes hit the buffers last year due to red tape.
The future of the deal remains unclear and on Monday Westbury Town Council unanimously backed a motion urging investment in sporting facilities.
