TSUNAMI AID: FORMER Westbury resident Shaune Price has abandoned his holiday to support the aid effort in tsunami-hit Thailand.

Mr Price, whose grandmother, father and two brothers still live in the town, began travelling round Asia in November with his girlfriend, American journalist Alma Freeman.

But after experiencing the tragedy at first hand in Krabi, Thailand his 'year off' took a very different tack as the couple decided to stay in the country.

The couple initially supported efforts at the hospital in Krabi where Mr Price helped create a photo database to assist families identify relatives.

He said: "Countries and large aid groups are donating money, but we realised firsthand that many of the very needy people are silently falling through the cracks and might never benefit.

"With the help of families and friends we are raising funds so that we can help the most needy directly."
