Jane Lee, who now works for the Wiltshire Music Service, led a creative music workshop at Bitham Brook Primary School in Westbury.
The school's year four and five class got to work with drums, xylophones and triangles.
Admin officer Pam Williams said: "Jane was narrating a story and she got the children to act it out in music.
"They all seemed to enjoy."
The workshop was the first of many artistic events planned this term for the school in Arundell Close.
Also in the pipeline are the visit of poet Brian Moses and a creative week in February where there will be an artist in residence.
Wiltshire County Council's road safety unit was due to pay a visit to the school's four infants classes yesterday to teach them about keeping out of harm's way on the roads.
