FAMILIES in Warminster fear children are in danger from motorists who are using a stretch of road as a racetrack. Residents along West Parade say the speeding drivers are putting their families at risk.
Warminster town councillor John Syme says because it is a long straight road motorists are ignoring the speed limit.
He said: "Every time I visit West Parade I am approached by worried householders who complain about the manner of drivers in the area.
"I am most concerned and worried that one day a child will be seriously injured or even killed.
"Many householders have young children who according to their parents are put at risk by speeding vehicles, especially while they are walking to and from Sambourne and Princecroft schools."
Cllr Syme appealed for police to step up patrols and for the county council to reduce the speed limits in the area, and criticised drivers who ignored the speed limit.
