30111/2BURGLARS in Warminster stole more than £11,000 worth of goods and cash, including donations made to help victims of the tsunami disaster.

The thieves targeted VS Print and Bombay Ben's snack bar, both in Chinns Court, Warminster.

Lizz Westlake, who owns and runs Bombay Ben's criticised the heartless thieves who stole money from the two charity boxes in her caf.

"The rest of the country is doing everything they can to help with the appeal and I can't believe that people would do this," she said.

"I don't know how much money was in there, I had been collecting for about two weeks and customers have been giving quite generously.

"From now on I shall not be keeping any cash here overnight and I am getting alarms installed."

As well as the tsunami appeal money and a charity box for Global Cancer Care, thieves took around £60 from a safety deposit box, and stole chocolate and drinks.

On the same night burglars targeted VS Print just across the street. Expensive computer and printing equipment was stolen, including a Xerox Fiery print controller, which can only be used with a specific Canon printer.

Nick Croker, a partner at VS, said his business cannot function as efficiently without the controller.

"A job that takes 15 seconds now can last up to 20 minutes," he said.

"What has caused more of a problem is that we have lost six months worth of work.

"That could be 50, 100, or 500 hours of labour, we just don't know.

"We are going to be more careful in future."

Thieves also stole two computers, two cordless telephones and computer software.

They broke into the two shops using tools to force open windows.

Sgt Ray Lewis, of Warminster Police, said: "We believe the people knew what they were looking for.

"One of the items was specialist and very expensive so it was most likely targeted."
