AS A local councillor I will not be able to speak on the important issue on the proposed road through the Hilperton Gap at the planning meeting on January 28, 7pm at the Civic Hall, Trowbridge.
Under guidance issued to councillors and following advice from the council's legal officers, I am prevented from attending the meeting and representing the strongly-held views of many people in my ward.
Therefore, as a local councillor I have less right to speak and represent my ward than any member of the public.
This is a ridiculous situation for a councillor to be put in.
It seems that if you are a local councillor, active in your community, doing your best to represent your ward, you are penalised for your commitment.
I can only urge people to attend the meeting and make the points I would like to have put forward to the planning committee.
