WE are all shocked with the tsunami disaster, and all would like to help some way. My husband and myself sorted all our clothes, bedding, towels etc out and took two black sacks to Wroughton hangar to be sorted out last week.
We went to Frome boot sale and market on Sunday to see if we could get some blankets from people selling. There was one lady with one, she wanted £5 which I thought was a lot.
A Moroccan man who sells new things gave me £2.50 towards this whereupon I got her down to £4. I then gave him back his 50p and he gave me three new bundles of flannels, what a credit to him, a real Christian (I think).
Then another lady, mother of a neighbour, gave me a big black sack of sheets, quilt and pillowcases for nothing, and another gentleman and his wife, regulars at Frome, gave me another pile of bedding she was selling, for nothing.
These people are real Christians. I just cannot thank them enough to think of other people when they're trying to make a living for themselves.
The people in this Wroughton hangar really got stuck in and I admire them, we have all given what money we can afford but it's all the voluntary work people are doing which is just as good. We are pensioners but are doing what we can, so please thank these good Christian people.
