TSUNAMI AID: STUDENTS at a Trowbridge school devoted a whole day to raising money for victims of the Asian tsunami.
Pupils at St Augustine's Catholic College, Wingfield Road, raised more than £1,300 during the fundraising day last Wednesday.
Drama teacher Victoria Trebilcock said: "All the children came back from holiday wanting to do something for the appeal and the headmaster thought we would have one day totally dedicated to it.
"The idea came from them and they have been working their little cotton socks off to organise it."
Children and staff brought in cakes for a sale, students paid to listen to bands and there was a football competition.
There were also other games and competitions, such as guess the name of the teddy bear, which raised £48 on its own.
They also paid £1 each to come to school in non-uniform.
The activities, held at break times and after school, ran alongside lessons and were mainly organised by the students themselves, with support from teachers.
