Ref. 75679-40YOUNGSTERS at a Swindon primary school are in awe of a new sculpture being assembled at their school.
The figure is being created at Lainesmead Primary School in honour of the school's four houses, ospreys, eagles, hawks and falcons, and is being set up in a tree between the school buildings.
Deputy head Bridget Long said: "It's an impressive sight. It's a Year 3 project that has spread to the whole school.
We asked the children to evaluate and look at sculptures on the Internet and then decide what would be best to represent the houses we have at the school."
The finished sculpture will feature two birds and a nest, with one bird sitting in a nest and the other perched on a section of the school wall.
Both birds have been created out of metal wire by Swindon artist Gordon Dickenson, who has been crafting sections and welding them together throughout the week.
It's hoped the project will be finished by early next week.
