TSUNAMI APPEAL: OWNERS of Indian restaurants in Swindon have joined forces to cook up an idea to raise funds for the tsunami disaster appeal.
Seventeen curry houses from the Swindon area have decided to donate all their profits from one evening to the British Red Cross, which is working in the affected countries.
Tuafir Ali, of the Saffron Spice Restaurant in Peatmoor, said: "It's the first time all the restaurants have pulled together and done something like this. It's good to see.
"It's such a big disaster that we have all got together and decided we have got to do something now."
Pam Jones, from the Swindon branch of the British Red Cross in Faringdon Road, said: "We are absolutely over the moon to be involved in something like this.
"We work with different communities all over the world so it's nice to be involved with this part of the community in Swindon."
