STEVE BOOK is poised to try and build on his unblemished record between the sticks for Town with Rhys Evans facing a late fitness test on a back spasm injury.

Should Evans miss out then Book (pictured) will look to make it four wins out of four in the matches he's played for Andy King's men.

Town's number one custodian is desperate to play but insists he won't put his own personal desire ahead of the team.

Should he have to drop out then it seems Town will be in perfectly save hands.

Evans, who has also been troubled by a groin injury in recent weeks, said: "It started getting sore at training on Tuesday and I felt it getting worse on Thursday.

"I've had a chat with the manager and he's made it clear that he doesn't want me in a situation where I force myself to play in one game, only to hurt myself further and miss several matches.

"I also have to think of the team."

Evans headed for a Friday afternoon massage to try and ease the problem but it is clearly a case of 'wait and see'.

Each time his deputy has stepped in, he's coped admirably and Evans sees that as no coincidence.

He said: "Booky has played an awful lot of matches and has tremendous experience.

"I think that counts for an awful lot when you're called upon by the manager, especially if you're not playing regularly."

Book is ready if required and admits that two reserve games in the last fortnight have helped preparations.

The 35-year-old said: "I've enjoyed myself in the matches I've played.

"But part of being a goalkeeper is accepting that's there's only one spot to fight for.

"I knew the score when I came here so I'm not going to moan and groan at the manager about not playing."

Book has been able to top up his match fitness levels with two reserve matches in the last fortnight.

He said: "I've played in the last couple of weeks, even though we had a force 10 gale I felt sharper and my kicking was better."

Midfielder Steve Robinson has ended a two-day training stint with Kidderminster Harriers but looks unlikely to be spending any further time at Aggborough.

He said: "I had nothing to lose by going and seeing them but they'd used up their loans so there's only so much you can do."

Robinson is due back on Monday to begin preparations for the LDV Vans Trophy southern area semi-final at Southend United.
