A GROUP of Swindon schoolchildren have been asked to design a garden for a Creative Planet Centre.
The year eight and nine children from Ridgeway School have been taking part in a series of workshops aimed at helping them with their designs and run by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.
The Creative Planet Centre is being built at Ridgeway School as part of its bid to become a specialist status in science school.
The children designing the gardens are being encouraged to think about sustainable development, the natural environment and quality of life.
It is being run as a competition, which has been set up by the Science Museum at Wroughton.
The deadline for entries to the competition was on December 21 and the final design entries will be displayed at the school from Wednesday.
The school has invited representatives from local businesses, school governors, parents, pupils and staff to drop in during the day to have their say on the designs.
It will also be an opportunity for people to see the Creative Planet plans and to discuss their own ideas on how the garden should look.
Anyone who wants more information should contact Amy Thompson, the Creative Planet centre manager, on 01793 846100.
Alternatively write to her at The Ridgeway School, Inverary Road, Wroughton, Swindon, SN4 9DJ.
