I AM writing in response to the article Lib Dems Support Voluntary Groups (EA, January 19).

The issue they miss is that a vast amount of money is being given to advice centres where there is a high level of duplication, eg owning offices, receptionists etc, and most of the money goes to fund people's pay packets not advise the public.

If they do want these to be saved how will they be paid for another hike of the council tax. This thinking would have meant a 19.2 per cent rise this year.

Once again the Lib Dems show a total lack of understanding of the finances of the council and where money can be used more efficiently.

I was right to resign from their group and join the Tories.
