CHIPPENHAM drew a blank at Hednesford, but remain top of the Premier Division as results elsewhere favoured the Bluebirds.
Steve White's team drew 0-0 with the FA Trophy holders thanks to a fine rearguard action.
Mark Hervin saved Lee Barrow's drive but was powerless to prevent Grant Beckett's free-kick from rattling the bar.
Paul McMahon's flick was then cleared off the line by Gary Thorne and Ben Kirk produced similar heroics to deny Richard Teesdale.
It took the introduction of James Constable to turn Chippenham into an attacking force. The substitute fired just wide and had a decent penalty appeal turned down.
Hervin then produced a fine save from Beckett's stinging strike late on before opposite number Ryan Young saved bravely at the feet of Constable in stoppage time.
While the Bluebirds picked up a point, fellow challengers Merthyr lost at Grantham while Histon and Cirencester cancelled each other out in a 2-2 draw.
Histon opened the scoring on seven minutes when Adrian Cambridge side-footed a free-kick into the corner of the net.
Ciren hit back when Nick Stanley fired over a superb cross which Jody Bevan converted with a glancing header.
Adi Viveash headed narrowly wide before Histon went ahead again as Cambridge broke from defence and hit a low shot which skidded off the greasy surface and beyond Mark Bryant.
The second half was only four minutes old when Cirencester equalised.
Hopkins' cross was flicked on by Bevan and Ben Fitch was on hand to find the back of the net.
