SIMON Addis' try with 10 minutes to go sealed a hard-fought 10-3 victory for Wootton Bassett's first reserves at Oldfield in the Bath Combination Merit Table.
Bassett opened the scoring through Gareth Walbyoff after pressure in the Oldfield 22.
But the home side reduced the deficit with a penalty.
Addis clinched it though, finishing a fine counter-attack and full-back, Mark Trowbridge also went close. Bassett skipper Rob May said: "It was a tough game. They were a different side to that we played earlier in the season and they really made us work for this one.
"With some tough games coming up in the next couple of weeks, I hope this match will prepare us better for them.''
Corsham's second string returned to winning ways in the Bath Combination 2nd XV Merit Table with a hard-fought 12-8 victory at Bath's Old Sulians.
The visitors made a slow start to the game, but with Shaun Lynch producing some sterling defensive work, Sulians could make little headway.
They eventually got their noses in front with an unconverted try and led 5-0 at the break.
With skipper Andy Donald reverting to the hooker's role from No 8, Corsham began to make more headway in the second half and blindside Chris James dived over after a spell of pressure to level the scores.
A Sulians penalty made it 8-5 but after a missed penalty attempt, the visitors eventually grabbed their decisive score, James feeding centre Rory Auld, who broke a number of tackles to touch down. Steve Tye's conversion completed the scoring.
