GREYHOUND missed out on a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Sunday Cup and ultimately a trip to Anfield as they crashed out of the competition at the weekend.

The Dog were 10 minutes away from securing a place in the last eight before conceding a late equaliser and eventually losing 4-2 at Albion Sports after extra-time.

The Bradford-based hosts had not conceded a goal in the competition before the fixture and duly took an early lead, but Greyhound hit back through Shaun Terry.

Ross Adams' free-kick then put the visitors ahead shortly after the break.

The Swindon side looked set to hold on as the flustered home team resorted to route one tactics, but goalkeeper Warren Jackson conceded a penalty in the 80th minute which was dispatched to send the game into extra-time.

Albion found another gear and scored a goal in each of the additional periods to end Greyhound's dreams of an appearance at Liverpool's home in the final.

Manager Dave Hawkins said: "At 2-1 up we looked comfortable.

"They went long ball and didn't look like scoring.

"But to be fair they were the better side in extra-time and deserved it.

"If we'd have gone up there and collapsed I would have been disappointed but the lads did their best.

"The competition was a great experience and we're looking forward to having another go next year."
