SWINDON Badgers marched into the semi-final of the Wiltshire Under 14 Cup when they beat previously unbeaten Chippenham in a penalty shoot out.
Their heroine was keeper Sasha Edwards, who saved a penalty in normal time and then saved two more in the shoot out.
Badgers started the brightest and it was no surprise when Francis Wilson burst through to open the scoring.
Badgers were the better side, but gifted Chippenham a lifeline when Kallie Waite handled in the area. The penalty was firmly struck but Edwards pulled off a great stop.
Both teams pressed hard but it was Chippenham who scored next.
A firm shot was unluckily deflected into her own net by Josie King to square the match.
The second half was equally as exciting with Badgers dominating midfield through Wilson, Hayley Desborough and Shannel Forbes.
The trio combined to give Badgers the lead midway through the half when Wilson scored her second.
Chippenham pressed hard, but their efforts looked like being wasted until the final minute, when a weak shot somehow evaded the Badgers defence to sneak under the Edwards to take the tie into extra time.
Extra time brought no goals, so penalties were required.
Edwards saved two, and with Badgers easily scoring theirs, it was all over.
Manager Adey Desborough said: "This performance was the best ever by any Swindon Badgers team past and present. I am so proud of all the girls."
Team: Sasha Edwards, Josie King, Kallie Waite, Francis Wilson, Shannel Forbes, Hayley Desborough, Emily Allen. Subs: Georgina Ashworth, Aimee Thompson.
