CHIPPENHAM travel to Salisbury City tonight needing to overturn a one-goal deficit to secure a return visit to the County Ground for manager Steve White.

The Bluebirds trail going into the second leg of this evening's Wiltshire Premier Shield semi-final after a 4-3 reverse in the first leg at Hardenhuish Park.

Steve White's men capitulated that night, conceding four times in seven minutes to leave themselves an uphill battle at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.

But Chippenham boast one of the best away records in the country so the trip to the Ryman League strugglers will hold no fear.

Chippenham are unbeaten since the turn of the year, while Salisbury upset Ryman League leaders and FA Cup heroes Yeading 2-1 at the weekend.

Swindon Town await the winners and for the first time in several seasons, the final is scheduled to take place at White's spiritual home the County Ground.

"I understand the final is being played at the County Ground this year and that should act as a carrot for all the players," said the Bluebirds boss.

"We're under no illusions, it will be a very hard game Salisbury had a very good result on Saturday.

"We had a shocking seven-minute spell in the first game so we'll need to avoid a repeat of that but our away record this season has been phenomenal."

White admits that he has one eye on the top-of-the-table Southern League clash with Merthyr at the weekend and will pick a team for the Shield match with that in mind.

Martin Paul is unlikely to get a rare place in the starting 11, though. The forward has a virus, while Wayne Thorne is still out with his finger injury.
