I AM writing to express my total agreement with the views expressed by K Head in the Adver regarding the unnecessary slaughter of wildlife on our roads.
That very topic had been the subject of a discussion I had earlier in the day with a friend. I said how sad it was that the only time I seemed to see badgers, foxes or rabbits or other country wildlife was lying dead on the Blunsdon to Highworth Road.
People drive too fast and too close these days. I have been driving for about 20 years and have noticed a distinct increase in speeding and impatient driving.
I was taught that anticipation of a potentially hazardous situation should be considered at all times whilst driving, and that would include respecting wildlife.
If I see a shape or a shadow on the verge of a country road, I slow down, perhaps if more people did this and showed more consideration for all living creatures then we would hear fewer sad stories about deer and their fawns suffering violent and needless deaths.
