IT has been another bumper week for Salisbury's busy fundraisers, as the money keeps rolling in for the tsunami relief effort.

People of all ages have been joining together to help the victims of the disaster, and more events are planned for the coming weeks.

Residents at Pembroke House, in Salisbury, have raised £1,168 through a collection, raffle and clothes sale, organised by manager Eileen Maby.

The flats are now hoping to be part of the Adopt-a-Village scheme in Sri Lanka, which has been backed by the Salisbury Journal.

Schoolchildren have continued to support the appeal generously, with pupils at Highbury Primary School raising £735 at a non-school uniform day, and a concert at Stonehenge School, Amesbury, generating £2,200.

Staff at Salisbury telecommunications company 4Com have collected £9,000 and Bassets Property Services is donating £50 from every new instruction in February and March.

In Farley, villagers have been hungry to help in every way they can.

The Burgess family raised £413 by baking and selling cakes, Sandra Baxter organised a shepherd's pie lunch, which boosted the funds of the Sewalanka Foundation in Sri Lanka, and Sue and David Bright raised £700 at an all-day breakfast, where they cooked more than 90 fry-ups.

The village is also holding a tea party and bring-and-buy sale on Saturday, February 5.

A garage sale held by Pam Beeson and her friends at Hilltop Way, Salisbury, on Saturday, raised £265, and last night, Apres LXIX held a champagne and canapes evening to launch its new-look bar and bistro. Guests were asked to donate £25 and a silent auction added to the total.

Models took to the catwalk at a fundraising fashion show held at the Chapel nightclub last Friday.

Tickets were £10 each and guests enjoyed sketches and musical entertainment.

The Farrant Singers also put on a good show when they treated 170 people to a concert at All Saints Church, Middle Woodford, on Friday.

The evening raised £2,400, which will be donated to Oxfam, Women at War and Medecins Sans Frontieres.

Next Saturday, a collection for Oxfam will take place in Salisbury city centre, and Salisbury firefighters are planning to climb the equivalent height of Mount Everest on gym equipment, in Waitrose car park, on Saturday, March 5.
