PEACE campaigner Bruce Kent will speak at a public meeting in Swindon next week. The meeting has been organised by Swindon Stop The War Coalition and will be chaired by Lord Stoddard of Swindon.

The meeting is at 7.30pm on Tuesday, February 1, at the Moravian Church Hall in Dixon Street.

Andy Newman, the secretary of the Stop The war Coalition, said that Mr Kent had formed a new campaign for the abolition of war.

"Bruce Kent is known to most of us as the spokesperson for CND during the 1980s, and he presents a very interesting case for how war could be abolished," Mr Newman said.

"Most of us are not pacifists in the Stop The War Coalition, we are simply campaigning against the unjustifiable wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"But we are often asked what we would have done instead and this meeting will be an opportunity to debate that."
