15189/1GAZETTE & HERALD: Pupils and teachers at Monkton Park Primary School are celebrating an Ofsted report that praises the quality of teaching and the pupils' positive attitude.
Ofsted inspectors visited the school in November and found the school to provide a good quality of education, with staff creating an effective climate for learning in which all pupils, whatever their abilities, are helped to feel included.
Acting headteacher Wil Hulbert said: "We are very proud of all our children and delighted that the Ofsted team recognise their achievements and positive attitudes across the broad spectrum of school life.
"As a staff we are very pleased that the inspectors acknowledged the high standards of teaching."
And Mrs Vanessa Hallam, chair of the governors, added: "We all strive to maintain the high standards that Monkton Park School has attained in past years and we appreciate all of the inspectors' comments."
They said almost 90 per cent of the lessons were good or better.
The provision of sporting activities was also judged to be particularly good.
One area for development identified by the report was the poor book stock, which the school is hoping to improve with the help of a grant from the Borough Lands charity.
The inspectors also want to see improvements in maths in years three to six and the raising of standards in ICT, with teachers making greater use of ICT across the curriculum as a whole.
