CONSTRUCTION industry reformer Sir Michael Latham, whose 1994 report Constructing the Team was a catalyst for major industry change and improvement, was due in Swindon today to talk to local companies about the changes in the last 10 years and his hopes for the future.
Sir Michael was visiting the Swindon Marriott Hotel in an event hosted by Willmott Dixon Construction, of which he is deputy chairman.
In his speech Sir Michael was expected to look back to 1993 and the state of the construction industry then it was characterised by client dissatisfaction, poor performance and non-existent profit margins.
He will discuss how his report helped to change that and spark further ongoing initiatives that have had a major impact in making construction a better, more efficient environment.
Brian Drysdale, managing director of Willmott Dixon Construc-tion, said: "We are proud to be hosting such an eminent person within the industry and delighted that so many people from the West Country will be able to hear first hand what Sir Michael has to say."
