Young jazz fans are invited to join a three-day workshop culminating in a concert with the Wiltshire Jazz Orchestra.

Wiltshire's school pupils aged 11-18 will take part in intensive rehearsals and workshops on February 11-13 and the weekend will end with a two-hour concert on Sunday afternoon.

The Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Youth Singers will perform at the Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford on Avon at 3pm on February 13.

Top professional singer Tina May will lead this weekend of jazz with the help of Chris Holmes, former head of Salisbury Area Musicians.

Anyone interested should contact their school head of music for an application form to attend the weekend.

The groups were set up by Wiltshire County Council to provide local musicians with an opportunity to play and perform at a high standard.

Valerie Hayward, the county council's music service manager, said: "We have some extremely good young musicians in the county and this is a perfect opportunity for the public to enjoy their talents.

Tickets for the performance are available from the Wiltshire Music Centre box office on (01225) 860100 and cost £5 (£3 concessions).
