Jayne HaddenPERSONAL trainer Jayne Hadden wants to open her own gym in Devizes. Mrs Hadden, a business and marketing consultant by background, qualified as a personal trainer a year ago and now has her sights set on opening a gym.
A planning application has been submitted to base the gym at a newly- built unit on Hopton Park Industrial Estate.
Planning permission is needed because the unit was granted permission by Kennet District Council for industrial and warehouse use.
Mrs Hadden, 33 and who lives in the Devizes area, was a member of Bill Montgomery's gym in the Market Place before it closed last February.
Although the gym at Devizes Leisure Centre is being expanded this year Mrs Hadden believes there is a need for another gym in Devizes.
She said: "There is quite a lot of development going on in Devizes with new offices being built and new houses and that will continue into the future. When Billy's Gym closed down it coincided with me becoming newly qualified. A lot of customers were disappointed so that really sparked my thoughts towards setting up my own gym."
Mrs Hadden, who is also working shifts at Marlborough Leisure Centre, intends to call her gym Route 2 Fitness and including herself will employ five staff. The gym, which would open seven days a week, will be on two floors. It is due open later in the spring.
