MONEY is continuing to roll in for the Swindon Cancer appeal.
Today the amount raised by the appeal stands at a phenomenal £564,958.34 raised since March 2003 with £300,000 alone raised last year. Organisers hoped to raise £600,000 in three years.
Among organisations that have helped to raise money are Churchfields and Commonweal schools who raised £3,305 by holding a football match between old staff from both schools.
Staff and students helped to raise this amount by playing, sponsoring and watching the match, which took place at the County Ground.
An extra £530 was received by Marlborough Running Club in addition to money already received from their Coast-to-Coast run last year, bringing their total to £3,557.
Gloria Haynes raised £200 by holding a luncheon party and charging her friends, while schools and organisations sent donations in lieu of Christmas Cards.
The £600,000 will pay for the work of two Macmillan nurses for the Swindon's Great Western Hospital and a consultant in palliative care to work at the hospital and the Prospect Hospice.
