PLANS to stop cars using a short cut to Westbury's Leigh Park estate have met with a series of objections from residents.
Wiltshire County Council wants to impose the Prohibition of Driving Order on Black Horse Lane, which links the development to Westbury Leigh.
The order was identified when the estate was being planned and is intended to allow a new access road across Black Horse Lane.
But seven residents have written to object to the scheme, which will be considered by the council's regulatory committee on Wednesday.
One objection listed in the agenda states: "Black Horse Lane is a historic route and the sole means of vehicular access to four properties, and residents would like to keep it this way."
Another said: "The use of the new estate road for access to the four Black Horse Lane properties would be inefficient and add to journey length."
The order has been recommended for permission at Wednesday's meeting.
Senior development control assistant Amanda Hall said: "The do nothing option is not recommended because of the potential rat-running that could occur."
