FULL plans have been unveiled for a housing development on the former GEC site in Melksham.
Bloor Homes has submitted plans for 98 homes for the land on Beanacre Road, which has already been given permission for use as housing.
Former owner Charlie Tull, a developer from Box, has battled for years to develop the former electrical factory plant, with plans for a multi-million pound factory shop falling by the wayside. There were plans to pull the red-bricked building down before Christmas but the bulldozers have not moved in yet.
Melksham town councillors have welcomed the full plans from Bloor, which will be discussed at a planning meeting in Melksham Town Hall on Monday night.
Cllr Angie Barker said: "I cannot comment on the application in detail as this is early days but we do seem to be moving in the right direction.
"The site already has planning permission for residential so I hope this should be straight forward.
"We must ensure that local residents and the town council have an input but it should only be a matter of ensuring the application falls within policy."
