A NEW book looking at the history of art in Wiltshire will be launched next week. Art In Wiltshire, written by Richard Hatchwell, will be unveiled at Wiltshire Heritage Museum in Devizes on Wednesday.
The book focuses on exhibits held in the museum.
Mr Hatchwell said: "This book confirms the wealth and importance of this collection. It will encourage readers to learn more about the county from its rich artistic heritage."
Over the past 150 years the museum has amassed more than 20,000 works but are only able to display a small selection because of limited space.
David Barrie, of the National Art Collections Fund, said: "Art In Wiltshire is a special book, reflecting the extraordinary cultural history of the county.
"In recent years the art fund has been able to support the acquisition of a substantial number of works for this county collection."
