GARY Skidmore is refusing to give up hope of staving off relegation by right, despite losing another chance to gain ground on their rivals on Saturday.

The Biddestone manager said no-one was ready to hit the panic button just yet as his side continue to find life tough in the Screwfix League.

Biddestone have been in the automatic relegation zone for most of the season and Luke Gullick's late equaliser from the penalty spot on Saturday was not enough to haul back the teams above them.

There is a chance even if they do finish season in the bottom two they will be given a stay of execution by winning re-election to the league, but Skidmore is hoping it will not have to come down to that.

He said: "No one here has given up hope of climbing up the table because we all firmly believe that we are good enough to do so.

"As long as we keep picking up points we are still there with the pack and in with a chance of finish out of the bottom two.

"We know that every point is vital because even if we do finish in the bottom two, the nearer we finish to the teams above the more chance we have of being re-elected."

Biddestone are just two points below the group of teams ahead of them, one of which is Saltash, while they are five points ahead of bottom side Shepton Mallet.

Saltash took a first half lead on Saturday but with 20 minutes remaining Gullick equalised from the penalty spot after captain Will Edwards had been upended in the penalty area.

Skidmore said: "A draw was probably a fair result.

"We are playing well but at the moment we just lack that cutting edge.

"Our defence is looking tight but I don't think we are putting enough pressure on the opposition and that in turn forces us back."
