BROTHERS Myles and Oliver Hickton helped Lavington to a narrow win ahead of tomorrow's top of Division Three showdown leaders St Andrews.
Their goals, in support of Lee Corbin's 32nd minute equaliser, made it seven straight league and cup wins for new boss Geoff Jenks in a 3-2 success at Rowde Sports.
Having dominated the second half the league top scorers almost dropped a last minute point after Royston Aust had converted Darren Morris' excellent through pass in the 77th minute.
In very unpleasant conditions at Sands Lane, Lavington were second best for the first half hour and although keeper Phil Simmons fumbled Morris' 25th-minute free kick to give Rowde the lead, it was no more than the hosts deserved.
Lavington are two points adrift of Saints but with a game in hand and have a far superior goal difference.
Apetito, with manager Nigel Sykes commended by his rivals following an 11th-hour role change from player to referee, are back in the promotion frame following a 4-2 local derby thriller against The Stiffs, who took the lead in just 26 seconds through Luke Davison who later missed a penalty.
Two goals in three minutes, from Alan House and Darren Carter reversed fortunes before Pete Stephenson levelled before the break. Late strikes from House and Neil Mitchell clinched Apetito's victory.
Semington Magpies still have promotion in sight following a 4-1 win over Trowbridge Wanderers, who owed much to Mark Binns' goalkeeping display. Nathan Walker's first goal for Magpies was wiped out by Steve Coombes but a hat-trick from Dan Phillips, including a late penalty, secured revenge for a 5-3 A and B Cup defeat.
FC Chippenham climbed two places but will consider it a point lost after two goals from Danny Smith and one from John Forrester established a three-goal lead against Frome Town Sports A, who had won six of their last eight games. An injury to defender Steve Brown proved the turning point with Tom Clayton (2) and Andy Mitchell completing Frome's recovery.
Double champions North Bradley Saints bounced back from the previous week's thrashing to beat top flight rivals Bradford United, who had Mark Williams dismissed in a 4-0 defeat.
Richard Bliha, Chris Gale, a 25-yard Ben Gardner effort and Jake Ganes were on target.
Leaders Rudloe, with defender Andy Sibbick celebrating his 40th birthday, avoided coming back to earth with a bump after their sensational cup win over Saints.
Although the 2-1 win over Warminster Town Reserves was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests, Rudloe were indebted to Russell Gibbings, answering a last minute call-up. He hit the 75th minute winner after Tom Smith's first minute opener was erased by Sean Bowden.
At the bottom Freshford secured another valuable point in a 3-3 stalemate with Frome Town Sports, who hit back through Luke Stanley and Ashley Doel after Neil Birleson and Paul Mockridge had given Freshford a two-goal cushion. Dave Birleson restored Freshford's lead only for Stanley to deliver again.
Troubled Heytesbury suffered again in a 7-3 home reverse to second place Seend United, whose lead from Dave Castle was wiped out by Steve Bidgood and Richard Wyatt.
Two own goals, following a double by Mike Hopkins and singles from Barry Holloway and Aaron Richardson, sank Heytesbury, whose third goal came from Sean Holton.
Steeple Ashton, who took the lead through Ricki Madden, were punished for more defensive lapses by CS Filos to leave the villagers six points adrift at the bottom of Division Two. Lee Hayward added a second, but Jimmy White (2), Johnny Cooper, Andy Davis and Alex Walters gave the Bath club a 5-2 triumph.
Filos return to second spot after title rivals Blue Circle dropped a home point in a 4-4 draw with Broughton Gifford Reserves. Circle boss Steve Martin was more than happy after his side trailed 3-1 with 30 minutes left. Kane Scott had given Circle the lead before Chris Vaughan, Simon Dolbear and a Scott penalty led to a superb recovery. A Duncan Knight free kick then gave Gifford a share of the spoils.
After three draws Hilperton found the winning formula, beating Bratton 2-0 with goals from Neil Hannaford and Tarick Yachou.
Substitute Steve Jackson celebrated his debut by crowning a 4-0 away win for FC Northbridge against fellow strugglers Castle Combe Reserves, who trailed by three goals at the break from a superb Ian Huntley strike, Mark Billett and Kye Leather.
In the divisional cup Westbury United A are through to the final with a 4-3 aggregate success over The Lamb Inn who, trailing 3-1 from the first leg, won the return 2-1 despite having keeper Mark Bosworth sent off.
Mark Nickels increased Westbury's advantage but Mark Franklin and Paul Farion hit back for Lamb.
Westbury meet either CS Filos or Castle Combe Reserves in the final.
In the Knockout Cup holders Broughton Gifford beat Rudloe Reserves 5-0, with John Hubbard scoring a hat-trick including an opening penalty and Liam Richards and Leigh Stevenson adding singles.
Division Two high flyers Seend United Reserves caused a surprise by holding top-flight Trowbridge United to a 2-2 extra-time draw. Jamie Young and Paul Gittens put Trowbridge on top but after a Wayne Bailey penalty a blunder by keeper Adam Sheppard allowed Chris Bishop to force a replay.
Both Bradford United Reserves and St Andrews secured 3-0 victories in the Spring Cup preliminary round. An own goal, Marc Haynes and Mike Embleton saw Bradford home after Adam Bishop took over in goal against Calne Eagles following a warm-up injury to Mark Cowdrey.
In their first game since December 11 Saints, with Ewan Maynard's free kick and Dave Greenwood's penalty consolidating Luke Giles' first half strike, won comfortably to earn a trip to Castle Combe A in the first round.
