RUNNERS raised over £1,300 in a charity race from Trowbridge to Bradford on Avon at the weekend.
A total of 88 people took part in the event, organised by Tesco and held on Sunday, to raise money for Dorothy House Hospice, Winsley.
Julie Castle from Tesco said: "People came from as far away as Oxford to take part. It was really successful and we had a really good turnout."
The race, supported by the Wiltshire Times, 3TR FM and Nestle, started at the Civic Hall in Trowbridge and the runners ran through the town to join the canal towpath at Canal Road.
They ran as far as the Beehive pub before turning back towards Trowbridge, completing a distance of about six miles.
Overall winner was 28-year-old Alastair Bartlett from Trowbridge.
The amount raised will not be confirmed until all the sponsorship money has been collected but each person taking part was asked to raise at least £15.
Ms Castle said: "Dorothy House is a good charity and people do give very generously to it."
Dorothy House provides care for people living with terminal illnesses, such as cancer and motor neurone disease, and their families.
