I WAS devastated to learn of the plight of CAB's financial problem, having recently found myself a beneficiary of their knowledge.

Before I contacted CAB I approached a solicitor who told me, even though I had a case, it may cost anything up to £2,500 to win but I would not be able to claim this back. So CAB saved the day for me.

How many people have benefited from CAB? Thousands, I wouldn't mind betting. CAB is for many people from all walks of life and I think it's the fourth emergency service.

I urge everybody to rally their councillor, MP, whoever will help. Give them the money. Nobody knows if they or their family or friends will need some help sometime. It will be too late if this wonderful service was to be weakened for what is not a horrendous amount of money.

On January 21 there were 19 appointments in Melksham alone. This is only one town, multiply this over Wiltshire and see how many people this comes to.

They are a wonderful bunch of volunteers so I suggest you be wary of not giving them the money/resources they require, or you may become ex-councillors because of a reckless decision not to fund this marvellous outfit.
