HOW many other readers have been massively inconvenienced by the decision by Royal Mail to close the Trowbridge collection office between the hours of 11am and 4pm. To describe this as ridiculous is like describing lava as tepid!
Apart from meaning that they are closed for the best part of the day, it also means that anybody who wishes to collect a package has to add to (and endure) the Trowbridge rush-hour traffic in order to do so.
To add insult to injury, when one receives a "We're holding a package" card through their door it always says to wait up to four hours before coming to collect the package... but in four hours' time the collection office is closed! It's not even as if one can realistically make the effort to be at home when the postman comes because these days I find my mail can be delivered at any time between 8am and 2pm.
Are the Post Office deliberately trying to make themselves look incompetent? I never believed it was right to de-regulate the postal service, but looking at the state of Royal Mail now one can only say that a bit of competition, and more importantly consumer choice, would be a good thing for everybody... except the inept RM and PO management.
A CRUTE
