TSUNAMI AID: CHILDREN at a Trowbridge primary school have raised hundreds of pounds to help the victims of the tsunami.
Pupils at The Mead Primary School worked together to come up with money-making ideas and have managed to raise £690 so far.
Headteacher Lyssy Bolton said: "I am so proud of the work the children have done, it's all been organised by them.
"It's good to see children putting others before themselves."
On the first day of term the youngsters spent time thinking about the experiences of those caught up in the Boxing Day disaster.
Each class put their fundraising ideas to the school council, which decided on three events.
Firstly they held a non-uniform day, for which each child was asked to donate £1 to come into class in everyday clothes.
Next on the agenda was a cake sale, with children and their parents making hundreds of cakes.
The fundraising will continue with a bring and buy sale, today at 3.15pm.
Local businesses are getting on board. Wilkinson in Trowbridge has donated goods.
