PEOPLE in Semington, near Trowbridge have been surprised to find its name changed. Diversion signs put around Semington by Wessex Water have been spelt incorrectly, renaming it Semmington.
A spokesman for Wessex Water said: "We are getting some new signs and will be taking the others down.
"We would like to apologise for all the embarrassment caused to people living in and around Semington."
But residents of the village have not taken the error too seriously.
Parish council chairman Angela Weston said: "It has happened before in the village and I think people realise we are still Semington.
Wessex Water is carrying out improvements to overflow systems in the village and diversions will remain in place until the beginning of March.
