30090/1TSUNAMI AID: PUPILS at the John of Gaunt School in Trowbridge have raised over £2,000 for the relief fund.

Students and staff dressed casually for a non-uniform day, paying at least £1 for the privilege.

Senior students took collecting buckets around the school and some sixth form boys decided to interpret the non-uniform day in a different way and turned up in their best suits.

Members of Year 8 also arranged a cake sale, raising £102 towards the final total.

Year 8 tutor Mary Littleworth said: "Most of the pupils gave up their own time to make and decorate cakes for sale on Friday.

"I'm really proud of what they achieved."

Students in the sixth form hope to raise even more by staging an event like a rock concert at the school.

Headteacher Andy Packer said: "It's admirable that so many young people are willing to put themselves out in order to help bring aid to the victims of this terrible disaster."
