Police were called by security workers at Airsprung, in Canal Road, just before 6am, after a car became wedged between a lamppost and some railings.

The black Nissan 200 SX, driven by a Trowbridge man, hit a lamppost and railings belonging to the recycling centre.

Specialists from Hintons Garage were called in to remove the car.

A grey BMW 325i, driven by a Trowbridge man, left the road and ploughed into a garden wall.

The car was leaking oil so the fire brigade were called in as a precaution and the road was closed.
