JOHN Fisher has made an audacious attempt to prise Phil Corcoran from Cirencester.

The Highworth boss is looking to boost his firepower after losing JP Mills to Supermarine and long-term target Corcoran fits the bill.

Fisher tried to snatch him from Fairford last season without success.

The prolific striker opted to move to Ciren in November but has struggled to break into the starting line-up and Fisher hopes the lure of regular football will be too good for Corcoran to resist.

"We've put in seven days for him," confirmed the Elms chief.

"He hasn't been featuring much at Cirencester and speaking to a few people I hear he's getting a bit disgruntled.

"We need to get another forward in and he'd be ideal. It just depends whether he's happy sitting on the bench at Ciren."

In the meantime, Fisher takes his squad to Almondsbury in the GLS League Cup tomorrow.

Mark O'Hara is cup tied, while Mills' departure and Paul Cooper's ligament injury limits Highworth's attacking options, though Justin Miller and Matty Saye are both fit to lead the line.

It's Supplementary Cup time for the other local clubs, with Wootton Bassett's derby trip to Fairford the pick of the ties.

Ashley Bradshaw is the only Bassett absentee following a morale-boosting win at Milton last week.

Fairford are without the cup tied Gary Hill but are hoping to land in-form forward Ben Carter from Wiltshire League Cricklade.

Shrivenham will fancy their chances at home to midtable One East outfit Letcombe.

Andy Rainer (hernia) and Steve Winchcombe (ankle) are the only absentees with Rich Tilling returning from his back injury.

In other ties, Malmesbury Vics entertain Banbury and Cirencester United travel to Ross Town.
