A NEW look Bradford on Avon remain in the relegation mire after slipping to their tenth Southern Counties League defeat on Saturday.
The result leaves them second from bottom in the table and with a home game against leaders Wootton Bassett tomorrow, things do not look like getting any easier.
Devizes started strongly but good covering defence by Dave George and several big hits in the centre from Aiden Blowers and debutant Jamie Curtis kept them at bay. Then, following good approach play by Bradford, Irishman Donnach McNulty charged down the clearance and followed it up for a well deserved try, converted by Blowers.
Devizes hit back and after a neat chip over by fly half James Pople, hooker Chris Billis charged over for his side's first five pointer.
This was the last score in a first half in which the back row of Vyvian, McNulty and George were dominant in the loose but the Devizes front five were dominating at set pieces.
The second half followed a similar pattern with strong defence from both teams dominating the play.
Eventually two scrums changed the whole profile of the game as Bradford were twice driven back several metres, making it easy for number eight James Gaiger to pick up and touch down.
Conversions were added by Pople to put the result beyond doubt.
Devizes' replacement flanker Stuart Walmsley was sin-binned for a late tackle with eight minutes to play.
Devizes also had six tries disallowed, two in the first half and four in the second, for either double movements of being unable to ground the ball.
