SAMMY IGOE will climb off the treatment table today in a defiant gesture of support for his beleaguered manager.
The 'showman' has a niggling back problem but he won't hear of missing out against Stockport County.
The 29-year-old is firmly behind his boss and wants to play his part in easing the pressure on him.
He said: "Earlier in the week I was thinking to myself that I might not be able to play.
"The back has been a bit sore and these sticky pitches don't really help.
"After the week we've had here though I'm determined to go out there and play and play for Andy King.
"I'm doing it for this manager. I wouldn't have done it for previous managers."
Igoe believes he won't be alone in his outlook.
He said: "I really like the manager. He showed belief in me to bring me here and I know it's the same with others.
"We need to go out and beat Stockport for a number of reasons, for the manager, for ourselves and for the supporters."
Igoe has been one of those players accused by fans of falling short of the standards set by Town last season.
Far from sniping back at such remarks, the midfielder agrees that the sparkle hasn't been there on a consistent enough basis.
He said: "I include myself in that and it is disappointing that we aren't higher up.
"Having said all that, I'm not giving up and I don't think the rest of the lads feel that way either.
"Let's get out there, get into Stockport and get the three points."
Igoe's determination to play means that the only members of King's squad who are certain to miss out today are the injured duo of Andy Nicholas and Christian Roberts and the suspended Jerel Ifil.
If Town are to see off the Hatters then they will have to break with recent tradition.
Stockport haven't lost in Wiltshire for almost 20 years and won three of their last four games at the County Ground.
