Wootton Bassett continued their Southern Counties South title charge with an emphatic 37-9 victory at Bradford on Avon.

The first 10 minutes saw the referee blow Bassett off the park and this never allowed the visitors to actually get going.

It was the home side that put the first scores on the board with two penalties to put them six points ahead.

It was 15 minutes into the game when the Bassett machine kicked into action and fly-half Nick Parker rounded the defence and scored out wide. No 8 Tim Gallimore adding the extra two points with a finely-struck conversion.

Parker was involved with the referee's next decision but this was to see him sent to the bin for 10 minutes after being deemed to have commited a professional foul.

The successful kick from the resulting penalty gave the home side the lead at 9-7, but this was also to be their last score of the match.

Wootton Bassett started to apply their forward pressure and on the half hour Gallimore touched down from the back of a pushover scrum. He also kicked the conversion to put Bassett ahead14-9.

Just before the interval Gallimore kicked another penalty to put Wootton Bassett in front 17-9 at half-time. The second period saw Bassett come out firing on all cylinders and their dominating pack started to push Bradford around the park.

Bassett's next score came from flying centre Jon Clarke, when he connected onto a pass and scored in the corner, ending an excellent move which lasted five phases.

Gallimore unfortunately missed the conversion but he made amend five minutes later by slotting a penalty to move the scoreline up to 25-9.

With only 15 minutes remaining Bassett made wholesale changes and swapped Gary Williamson for an outstanding Mark Roshier at prop. Colt Matt Hogg came on for Stuart Catherall at flank to make his debut, and Phil Gould replaced Ben Bailey on the wing.

The last 10 minutes saw Bradford exert pressure onto the Bassett line, but excellent defence kept any would-be scorer at bay, and Bassett had the last laugh with two tries in quick succession in the last minute of the game from second row Flo Vialan and winger Nick Warren.

Gallimore only converted one of these tries which left Bassett with the spoils and a final scoreline of 37-9.
